A Polymathic take on Art: Aesthetics & Mathematics in Islamic Geometric Art
<p>Easily one of the most striking and identifying aspects of Islamic art is the complex geometrical shapes that are a critical aspect within its art and architecture. Seen everywhere from mosques, madrasas, palaces, and even private homes, these abstract patterns are much more than simple decoration.</p>
<p>They represent a multi-layered unity between mathematics and art. I think it would be fair for me to say that they are a polymath’s dream (especially for me, with a childhood obsession of playing with a compass, ruler, and a blank page).</p>
