Welcome to the second part of my meditation on Indigenous poetry. Remember from last week that August marks the Sealey Challenge! This year, I decided to forego the actual challenge — to read one book of poetry and one chapbook per day — and instead focus on one edited collection of poetry by Native poets. This week, I delve into the last eleven poets in New Poets of Native Nations by Heid E. Erdrich. Last week, I talked about the way the introduction creates space for poems, poets, and poetics.
