Cuts to coverage will hurt our culture

<p>ONE of Martin Boulton&rsquo;s proudest moments as a journalist was convincing a former editor-in-chief of&nbsp;<em>The Age</em>&nbsp;to revive the paper&rsquo;s iconic&nbsp;<em>EG</em>&nbsp;music and entertainment lift out.</p> <p><em>EG</em>&nbsp;&mdash; short for Entertainment Guide &mdash; had been pushed aside in favour of&nbsp;<em>The Shortlist</em>, a thinly-disguised replica of the&nbsp;<em>Sydney Morning Herald</em>&rsquo;s entertainment lift out.</p> <p>But Boulton &mdash; who in a career of almost 15 years at&nbsp;<em>The Age</em>&nbsp;has worked as a news and sports reporter before editing EG for the last four &mdash; successfully argued that the&nbsp;<em>EG</em>&nbsp;name was distinctly Melburnian and should be resurrected.</p> <p><a href="https://medium.com/@withMEAA/cuts-to-coverage-will-hurt-our-culture-4bd2c81d0f6a"><strong>Read More</strong></a></p>
