The No Case is Full of Nothing But No Hopers
<p>I walked past an anti-the Voice to Parliament No vote rally that was being held outside the Victorian State Parliament House building yesterday morning. I was with a young American friend, who was understandably nowhere near as emotionally perturbed as I was. To me, the No supporters seemed to be rather confused about why they were there, as if they weren’t entirely sure of the collective intent behind their protest against the Voice.</p>
<p>These No hopers, with their Australian flags, Eureka flags and other patriotic symbols of right-wing nationalist undertone in tow, made me deeply anxious, frustrated and angry. They weren’t aware of how offensive their signs and placards were. One placard even had the mindless words “LANDS (sic) GOD GODS LAND” scrawled on it (seen in the picture below).</p>
