The Hooded Crow Mother

This post begins the cultural mythology of ancient Celtic peoples who had relationships with many spirits, often worshipped. The Roman occupations of those lands brought a different reality, in which the Druids were persecuted, who were often the priesthood who served the Tribes. Celtic peoples were tribal, and much of what is known about them is that veneration was gifted to the lands, animals, and vegetation prior to the onset of those Roman interests in their lands. Comparisons to their own Gods, for example, were met with humor and even disdain. Originally, scholars have concluded that the Celts did not actually have humanoid Gods, choosing to personify nature instead. That eventually changed. For my purposes in these blogs, I am investigating the ancient interpretations of their spirits.

Website
