Homecoming: A New Reality

<p>Waiting for Lauren to call, I paced, I cleaned things that were already clean, I took Coco out for a walk. Nothing made the minute hand on the clock move any faster. Nine-thirty. She said they&rsquo;d release her around nine-thirty. The detox facility is only about a 15 minute drive, but still, I thought about driving over there early so I&rsquo;d be in the area when she called. I also thought that would jinx it.</p> <p>She called me at 9:20 A.M. Saturday morning. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m ready to be picked up!&rdquo; The flood of emotions combined with my withdrawals from marijuana were overwhelming.
