Who/What the Heck is Tiney Winey?

I’m originally from a place near Toronto, Canada called Mississauga (Big ups to the 905) but I currently live as a student in Sydney, Australia. Tiny Winey is a soca (Caribbean genre of music, see Wikipedia definition here) song that was popularized by Byron Lee and the Dragonaires in 1988. Essentially, it is a song about a woman who is small in stature and “wines” (gyrates) her waist in a way that is appealing to the artist singing the song. Tiney Winey is also the alias I have chosen for myself as a long time soca junkie doing my best to spread my love for the music as far and wide as I possibly can.

I am trying to provide people with useful information while inviting them to get excited about this venture right along with me. I have recently decided to combat all the misguided and inaccurate representations of Caribbean culture in Sydney and I’ve chosen to do this largely through a vlog series called the Tiney Winey Chronicles.
