Even though I didn’t hear the context of her facetious comment, it was a bit of a punch in the gut to someone who now identifies as transmasculine. (Although some people who claim that “all men are bad” exclude trans men and transmasculine people from this judgment, but that is a different discussion.) The majority of the people at the watch party were women; there were only a couple guys. No one reacted strongly to her comment. I couldn’t help thinking about what would’ve happened if the genders had been switched: what if a man/transmasculine individual said they hated women? There’s no way that wouldn’t have had a strong reaction!
