Happily Ever After Who?

You bet I laughed my ass off when a friend told me her husband thought he married a virgin. No, I don't feel bad. The dude was on his third marriage, frequented Vegas, and still craved inexperience for dessert. My friend had so much substance underneath her sheila, but her husband wasn't interested in who she was or in building a life together. It was his life, and she was just an item on a menu to pick from, so she served him what he lusted over, the facade of being someone's first. That was the only choice available for a woman like her, and as expected, the husband tired from her faster than it took finding a doctor to buy a hymen from anyway.

Poor guy married a freak in the streets and a lady in the sheets and missed out on all the fun! He wanted a woman to fix his coffee, not a partnership.

“My uncles hadn’t made their own coffees for over thirty years. My aunts believed it was their divine duty to serve them their morning fix, otherwise the men will never make it to work, and then there would be no food to serve at dinner.” — Gaslight Avenue: Based on a true hummus story, by Nada Chehade.

My other friend, let's call her Suzie, was the hostess of the hottest nightclub in Montreal. When she started dating an "old fashioned" man who frequented the club, I felt sorry for her ass. For some foreign women, traditional patriarchy seems nice and fluffy initially, with promises of never having to chase rent and deal with drunk assholes again because it's a man's duty to put a roof over your head, but it's a trap. He can snatch the roof away if you dare answer him back. Of course,
