View From the Hanging Gardens

I can never tire of this scene. Mumbai is my birth city. I lived there for the first ten years of my life and then, visited several times before moving there again after I got married in 1997.

Of course, we went to all my favorite childhood spots, one of which was the Hanging Gardens on Malabar Hill. The view from there is breathtaking. You can see the bustling city traffic, the high-rise buildings, people milling around, going about their business.

You can also see people enjoying the beach with their kids or loved ones . . . the boats afloat on the Arabian Sea.

Such a serene sight — to me. No matter what is going on in our minds, this scene always calms me. It reminds me of all the wonderful times I had — both during my childhood and as an adult. I clicked this photo from that vantage point, with my then 12-year-old son. I imagined, as I like to do, the millions of stories in that scene in the city that never sleeps — Mumbai.

Well after filling our hearts with joyful thoughts, we headed off to see a live band playing in the stage area at the Hanging Gardens followed by delicious street food — of the sort you can indulge ONLY in Mumbai.
