Hailey Bennett: WEAVE

Hailey: Looking back to my formative years, I think as an adult I can appreciate that a lot of things that I am interested in now were influenced by different experiences and things I saw growing up. My first memory of wanting to be a fashion designer was from watching Project Runway. If you haven’t seen Project Runways before, the show basically puts a group of aspiring and working fashion designers through a series of different challenges each week; eliminating someone, and ultimately leaving one designer standing to be the next big name in fashion. Jay McCarroll was the winner of the first season, and his collection is one that to this day stands out in my memory. Mixing together bright colours, chunky knitwear, oversized beads, and headphones, the collection made me feel something instinctively that I think just made fashion design, click.
