I Have My Own Journey: My Anger About Having White Privilege

<p>My grandparents, who worked in the thriving auto industry of Detroit where I was born and reared, left a lasting impression on the way I saw the world. Our family was peacefully tucked away in a neighborhood that reflected our own racial identity..WHITE PEOPLE! (side note: we grew up in the outskirts of predominantly white neighborhoods, not specifically Detroit) My Grandparents that worked in these factories tended to be quite racist, or at least make inappropriate remarks.</p> <p>When I turned 13, my mom received a job offer in Charlotte North Carolina. I was devastated to leave my friends, but thought &ldquo;how difficult or different this experience would be&rdquo; But when we relocated to North Carolina in 1992, EVERYTHING was different.
