You gotta love this city

This was ever-present in the 90s television series ‘Sex and the City’ where the city became the show’s fifth main character. And it really was. The four female leads of the show were regularly traipsing streets, meeting in real bars and restaurants, and recreating quintessential New York scenes (jogging in Central Park, attending fashion shows, even ringing the bell at the New York stock exchange).

Other shows have frequently set scenes in a NY coffee shop — most famously, the sitcom Friends where Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe bonded over their work and romantic life struggles. It has been more than two decades since the show ended and yet the set of Central Perk instantly remains recognisable around the world.
