Forts fascinate me. The Red Fort at Delhi depicts the history of the country and the several invasions that took place and plundered India before the Britishers finally acquired it. A powerful sound and light show both in English and in Hindi shows the history of Red Fort. A group of senior citizens was organized by the Venu Eye Hospital and we all took the plunge. It was not easy to travel to the Red Fort even though it was in Old Delhi. The traffic and the route were difficult but how grand it was. A great treat to see this UNESCO Heritage site. Some time ago when I went to see the Red Fort it was in shambles and a poor show on history. Many of the Non-Resident Indians were disappointed that the history and culture that they wanted to see through the Red Fort was no longer there. The Archaeological Survey of India has made a lot of improvements to it. The sound and light show that had been started was able to depict the beauty of the place. The red sandstone strong boundary wall looks as amazing as the impressive fort.
