Glenn Youngkin’s Dangerous Take on Trump’s Indictment

Since the news broke of Trump’s indictment in connection with the classified documents he misappropriated in 2021, I have been reading the reactions of Republicans. I was disgusted that most of them chose to condemn the indictments before even reading the details. I was frightened by the Tweet of MAGA loyalists like Representative Clay Higgins (R-LA), who suggested Trump loyalists respond to the indictment militarily.

Of particular interest have been the reactions of the eleven Republicans challenging Trump for the 2024 Presidential nomination. Most have condemned the indictment, suggesting it is politically motivated. A few have talked about “weaponization.” And a couple, including Texas Senator John Cornyn and John Thune (R-SD), withheld comment, prudently, until the details of the indictment were known. Rarely yet are Republicans, such as Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT), that praised the indictment.
