Why Are We Still Splitting Into Gender Groups When Socialising?

Wanting to be “one of the boys” can be often misunderstood. It can also mean different things to different people.

For me, I’ve always enjoyed the conservational vibe of a group of guys: who’s not playing well in the AFL at the moment, what holidays are planned over the coming months, how COVID is continuing to mess with our lives – just general shit talk. The fact that I love to drink beer also helps!

As relaxed as these occasions usually are with that beer in hand, I rarely want to spend much time talking about work or anything too serious. Something along the lines of “Work’s good, how about you?” suffices in my book.
