He had a whole team behind him named Pest Control. The artist and his team have a reputation for standing up for what they believe in regardless of the public backlash. The artwork was one of Banksy’s signature rats. The man walked over and tugged it off the wall, with the hopes of being able to sell it for money. Some of Banksy’s artwork can go for upward of $2 million. In 2004, he tried to get the artwork authenticated. Without the certificate of authentication, the artwork wouldn’t sell for much. The kicker is that Banksy’s team, Pest Control, is the only one that can authenticate and give certification of authenticity to artwork owners.
