10 Times Banksy Fought for Justice

Banksy is a graffiti artist, political activist, author and filmmaker based in England. Even though Banksy’s identity remains a mystery, he isn’t working alone. He had a whole team behind him named Pest Control. The artist and his team have a reputation for standing up for what they believe in regardless of the public backlash. This is a list of 10 incidents where Banksy and his team get justice for something they deem an injustice.

Stolen Street Art: In 2002, an unidentified man saw Banksy’s artwork spray painted on a piece of metal attached to a building. The artwork was one of Banksy’s signature rats. The man walked over and tugged it off the wall, with the hopes of being able to sell it for money. Some of Banksy’s artwork can go for upward of $2 million. In 2004, he tried to get the artwork authenticated. Without the certificate of authentication, the artwork wouldn’t sell for much. The kicker is that Banksy’s team, Pest Control, is the only one that can authenticate and give certification of authenticity to artwork owners. The Pest Control refused to give him a certificate because they knew the artwork was stolen meaning this man wouldn’t be able to make the profit he was hoping to.
