The Football Factory

In between, 1890 to be exact, The Bohemian Football Club was established in the Phoenix Park by the lads. If the pictures of the founding fathers of the Boh-ez are anything to go by they could easily be mistaken for the scions of wealthy English industrialists. No sign of Biddy Mulligan Pride of the Coombe types, but that’s ok, she was probably a St. Francis supporter.

The nature of Triangular Trade was for these factories to make stuff, bring it to West Africa, exchange it for enslaved humans, bring them to the Americas, trade them for sugar, cotton, tabacco & wood and then return these goods to the UK to be recast and sold for large profits. It built the British Empire’s wealth and child labour had it’s part to play. Well, that, and colonising other countries but I am not going there…yet.

There is another factory whose profits are based on what could be considered the fruits of children’s endeavour, The Football Factory.
