I’ve Slept On the Floor for 30 Days

Except it’s not. I’m not at all one of those people. I so easily give into temptation that the local Domino’s crew knows my order as soon as they hear my voice. I do try to take care of myself, but I’m often bested by the very visceral human desire to be comfortable and pampered. Discipline is not a strong suit of mine. No, I started sleeping on the floor because, for months, I had worsening back issues and I tried everything. I went to the doctor, did physical therapy, stretches, took months off of strenuous exercises like squats, deadlifts, and bent over rows. One day while cursing my back and feeling decades older than I am as I bent down to tie my shoes, I realized that my back was always stiffer in the morning right when I woke up than later on in the afternoon and evenings. I started to suspect my nice, cushy mattress, but didn’t really think about it much beyond some initial speculation.
