Risk Analysis of Buildings in Amsterdam According to the Flood Scenario in 2100

Floods have played a significant role in human life and the construction of cities for centuries and it has always been at the forefront and will continue to be one of the biggest problems, especially in the Netherlands due to its low water level. For this reason, it is important to consider the window-to-wall ratio on the facades of existing buildings. Due to the availability of a large volume of building images online via APIs such as Google Street View and the advancement of image processing techniques such as deep learning, it becomes feasible to extract information from images to enrich building databases. (Li et al., 2018) Based on the city boundaries of Amsterdam, Google Street View panoramic photographs were obtained, and the buildings with the highest window-to-wall ratio were determined using the image segmentation method. In this paper, the location of risky buildings in the possible flood scenario in 2100 will be discussed, as well as precautions that can be taken.

Visit Now
