I Can’t Find My Niche

Here we go again. I’ve come across another article stating how or why all artists need to find their niche. I’ll be honest, I don’t want to and you can’t make me. For a time I thought my magnum opus was painting water. I enjoy it for so many reasons. The ocean intoxicates me. I find it undemanding and painting it always relaxes me. Does that mean painting seascapes is my forte? I’m not sure. I feel like if I declare that painting water is my niche, I’ll have to drop everything else. I am too interested in too many other forms of art, some of which I haven’t even tried yet. It would be like picking a favorite child or pet…Impossible! What about abstract, collage, and found object assemblage? These are just kids I haven’t made yet.

I think I will declare that my niche is…Art! All forms of art!

Until I change my mind again.
