I walk to the podium, almost trip on the stairs, and grasp the thick envelope holding the key to my future. I’d officially graduated from university. Little did I know I was about to get dumped, run out of money, then chewed up by the job market. I graduated without a shred of identity, but five years later, I managed the media team for a successful startup. The guys I hiked up the mountain with were nowhere to be found, I was running out of water, and my head felt like a lead balloon. You need to take accountability for your actions, or best case, you’ll live in your parent's house for good. Not everyone has that option. In my case, I entered the real world like nothing changed. I slept in late, drank on weekdays, and acted like these habits would get me hired. But I quickly realized I was acting like an adult baby. So I started with one good habit, like consistent workouts, which led to another, like a cleaner diet.
