<p>While their husbands and sons were fighting and dying in foreign fields, the working class women of Glasgow also went to war.</p> <p>They didn&rsquo;t seek or start this fight. They were forced to defend themselves when their profiteering landlords demanded they pay more rent or face eviction.</p> <p>The home-made weapons they wielded were not bombs and bullets, but balls of wet washing and bags of flour.
