The Great Silence: Unravelling the Fermi Paradox

The Fermi Paradox is the discrepancy between the lack of conclusive evidence of advanced extraterrestrial life and the high probability of its existence. In a nutshell, the Fermi Paradox is the fact that aliens should exist, but as of now we have not seen a single sighting of them in the Milky Way.

Let’s discuss the arguments of the Fermi Paradox which create this discrepancy. The Milky Way galaxy contains hundreds of billions of stars, and billions of them are similar to the sun. This means that it is highly likely that some of these stars will have planets orbiting them which are similar to Earth in different conditions like water, atmosphere etc. If we assume that the Earth is not special, via Copernican Principal, then intelligent life should also exist on at least a few of these countless Earth-like planets.
