Beyond False Narratives: Embracing Truth and Reconciliation in Canada

<p>During World War II, the Jewish people in concentration camps referred to Canada as Freedomland. This is because Canada is often painted in a positive light and is known as a country that stands for equality, justice, and freedom, causing it to become a beacon of hope for them. However, this is a false narrative that Canada has pushed which hides the harsh realities of our past. Our history has a plethora of stories of racism, prejudice, and colonization done by the settlers. This has made a significant impact on the Indigenous community, leaving them with trauma passed down through several generations.
