<p>I grew up hating my Chinese traditions. Growing up I felt like so much of it didn&rsquo;t make sense to me like learning my mother tongue, using chopsticks properly, women being seen as a &ldquo;good woman&rdquo; only if she were domesticated, keeping the rules of festivities, and all that other things in between.</p> <p>I was lost as a child, I grew up in a moderately progressive household. Both my parents were educated in the UK and had been exposed to Western culture. They raised me with Western influences, and I grew up appreciating the West more than my own culture. I saw the ways of my people as non-progressive, outdated, and inferior to my Western upbringing.
