Escher x Nendo: Between Two Worlds

This exhibition was definitely a huge attraction in Melbourne while I was there, with promotions on every street in the CBD. And it seemed like every person in Melbourne was at the NGV on the day we went to see it.

Marching single file through the opening hallway, filled with algorithmic light projections on the floor, made me nostalgic for aquarium tunnels where the water reflections move over you from above. The hallway ended, but it remained single file for the rest of the exhibition. This definitely impacted on my experience, and I developed an art nemesis along the way. It seemed like the same frizzy hair was blocking my view of every print, and just when I thought I’d either fallen far enough behind or moved ahead of the queue and had a quiet moment to look at the prints, that same person stood in front of it again to block my view.
