Entrepreneurship, Life and #PropTech

I arrived on the eve of my 19th birthday in 2011 into Sydney, following my father and brother who had moved here 3 years before. Entrepreneurs by heart, my father Carl founded and built one of Australia’s leading e-commerce sites The MySale group, and alongside his brother Jamie they singlehandedly grew from 4 to 900 employees to operate in 9 countries, successfully floating the business with a £200m market cap, all in the space of 5 years.

Something I always saw in my father was the ability to spot an opportunity, spot a trend and spot a new startup — he was and still is fantastic in that. This innate vision is something I have as well and I am constantly on the look for startups disrupting conventional industries. We all know about AirBnB and Uber, but startups such as spaceship.com.au or snappr.co in Sydney are well on the way to achieving serious heights disrupting the Super (pension) and photography industries, having followed these from day 1 — they are certainly doing something right.
