Am I saving enough to retire?

<p>Retirement is the ever-elusive goal. You might say to yourself, &ldquo;Self, I&rsquo;m living comfortably now, as a 25-year-old adult, on my $50,000 annual salary. I&rsquo;d like to maintain this standard of living when I&rsquo;m old, too.&rdquo; But the effects of inflation compound; because the worth of each dollar decreases each year, when you retire at 67 years old, today&rsquo;s $50,000 can balloon to about $180,000 in future-dollars, depending on the actual rate of yearly inflation. So how do we conceptualize how much we actually need to retire and if we&rsquo;re saving enough?
