Egyptian Influence on Ancient Greece

Ancient Egypt and Greece are often thought of as two separate stories, but this assessment is not that simple, as, for a whole millennium, religion and culture were constantly exchanged between the two Great Civilizations of the Ancient World. Starting with the first “proto Greeks”, the Myceneans and Minoans, the Egyptians imported much of their culture towards Greece as a part of the great trade of the Bronze Age. After the Bronze Age Collapse, the early Greeks were heavily influenced by the more sophisticated Egyptians in the wake of the Greek Dark Ages. In a twist of fate, the Greek Culture would come to dominate the Mediterranean, with the Egyptians falling sway as well. These broad events are testaments to the impacts that civilizations have upon one another. This neglected subject deserves to be told to better understand History to its fullest.
