Draft DIA Maps: Seeking Your Input!
<p>In the 2023 legislative session, Engrossed Second Substitute Senate Bill 5080 (<a href="https://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=5080&Year=2023&Initiative=false" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank"><strong>E2SSB 5080</strong></a>) changed the criteria for what qualifies as a Disproportionately Impacted Area (DIA).</p>
<p>DIAs are neighborhoods and communities within Washington State that were most impacted by the War on Drugs. Using census data from 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2010, DIA areas were determined by identifying zones of high unemployment, people living under the federal poverty level, people who did not graduate from high school, and people receiving public assistance.</p>
