Taipei the Chaos and Beauty of Walking Down the Sidewalk.

For those of you living in Taipei you already know the disparity of sidewalks from building to building, tune out your surroundings and your destine for pain. While walking and avoiding obstacles there is another over looked piece of architecture that protects you from the elements and houses a unique beauty found only in certain parts of the world. In this brief article we can touch on those elements that I find unique while living here.

The first thing is that as you walk down the sidewalk there are innumerous different heights from building to building. Some measuring just and inch or two while others are sixteen plus inches higher or lower when compared to its neighboring section. This issue is solved by each section employing either a set of stairs or a ramp to get people from one elevation to another. This method is effective but again needs you to be active while walking and I can not tell you the number of wrenched knees and mild sprained ankles I have had from catching those little one to three inch inclines.
