Doubting the Bible: A Coming Out Story

While I’ve “come out” in various ways in my life, the “coming out” I’ve dreaded most is revealing that I don’t believe in the Bible.

I grew up in an evangelical church and my extended bio-family identify mostly as “stone-cold believers.” Heck, I went to a Christian College on a seminary track and yes, I co-pastored a church for ten years. So my saying that I don’t believe the Bible is tantamount to rejecting God altogether.

Let me say first that I still love Jesus and Mama Mary and Mary Magdalene (who I think was the chief apostle and probably Jesus’ wife, but I digress.) I also love and respect Christians who don’t use their beliefs to justify racism, MAGA, and hatred of LGBTQ+ folks.

Learn More
