Why Republicans Voted Against Preventing Domestic Terrorism

<p>A<strong>fter two tragic mass shootings</strong>, why did&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/26/politics/senate-domestic-terrorism-bill-vote/index.html" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Senate Republicans block a domestic terrorism bill last week</a>&nbsp;that would have protected our children and communities from gun violence and white supremacist threats?</p> <p>That should be the question that journalists and Democrats ask every Republican elected official from now until election day considering the GOP promotes itself as the party of national security while accusing Democrats of being soft on crime.</p> <p>We know the answer. There&rsquo;s no reason for Republicans to sign off on a bill that would have opened a debate on hate crimes and gun safety, and thus compromise its own party, members, and elected officials. In 2022, the GOP is officially a radicalized and weaponized pro-death movement that is addicted to guns and white supremacists, who are part and parcel of its base.
