Leaning into the Gentle Breeze of Divine Murmurs

A whisper can only be produced using the vocal ligament, a band of elastic tissue in the vocal folds of the voice box. There is more strain on the voice to whisper than during regular speech.

Whispering is often associated with secrecy, exclusiveness, intimacy. It’s sharing information that isn’t meant for any other ears to hear. Well, unless you whisper near a curved surface, then a phenomenon called the “whispering gallery” carries the voice further than you will know.

When a person whispers to me, I find myself leaning in to hear their words. It’s a movement that is almost instinctive, the need to move closer to hear those words meant only for your ears.

It’s probably why whispers come to mind when I think about communicating with the divine. Soft gentle communication is envisioned and leaning in to catch whatever message might be shared.

Our interconnected nature, the sharing of energies and thoughts are also perceived as whispers, gently making their way into our awareness as we lean in with anticipation to catch what is being shared.

Imagine energies and thoughts being shared at normal voice levels? The resulting cacophony would be so loud, our inner hearing would be overwhelmed. Instead of leaning into the connectedness we’d shy away seeking relief and quiet.

Visit Now
