Seeing Through Your Work
<p>I’m aware of no other jobs that have you do a task and then allow you, if you choose, hours to “dissect” your performance.</p>
<p>It’s called windshield time or seeing through your work. Long-haul trucking does this. Climb up and settle in to enjoy the grand view via this big window.</p>
<p>I never aspired to work as a truck driver. Most of my work life required slacks and button-down shirts, and no requirement to callous your hands. Jobs with detailed, cerebral thought and planning filled up most of my life.</p>
<p>But when the U.S. recession of 2009 came calling, feeding the family required a look at all options.</p>
