Disney’s Problem Is Quite Simple — They Became Boring.

Kids just don’t care about comic books anymore.

“What’s the mouse doing there? Oh, I saw him in my grandpa’s old magazines.”

You might be thinking, “Who cares about magazines? I didn’t read magazines, but I’m a Disney fan.”

Comics are just the seed. People who read Iron Man comics had a dopamine rush when they saw him in a movie.

They had a stronger rush when they saw multiple superheroes that they used to read about appear next to each other.

So when you hear about an Avengers movie making almost $3 billion dollars, you need to know that it isn’t mainly the VFX people or the movie director.

It’s the person who planted this seed in the loyal fans a very long time ago.

It’s that author who wrote this comic book a long time ago.

It’s that one designer who drew a picture of the Hulk.

Each and every person contributing to this gave that seed some water.

Until they stopped.

Mickey wants to retire.

The mouse is too old. Disney simply didn’t have as much effect on Gen Z. It’s not their fault. It’s the technological revolution that happened that they didn’t know how to react to.

That child who used to read comics now does TikTok videos.
