Digital Game Based Learning

As a future educator, digital game based learning will be incorporated into my classroom curriculum. I feel like DGBL makes the learning more personable for the students. Students, whether they engage in playing video games or not, would bebe fit from the DGBL style of learning in the classroom because it indirectly relates to them and allows conversation creation for students and their peers.

I am completely persuaded by the idea that video games can help improve the academic aspect of student success especially after reading an educational technology article that stated worldwide research has shown that students who game are seeing in-game success translate to school. I found this information to be interesting primarily for the fact that I (up until this point), along with parents usually think that video games would do the exact opposite. They are often seen as distractions or even used as rewards, but in fact they are a tool that can be used for academic learning. Not only was the article a good source of persuasion for me, I also agree with many of the principles as to why digital game based learning is beneficial and will more than likely be used in the future classroom as well!

Website
