Details and Embellishment in 20th Century Fashion History (Personal Favourites)
<p>Thinking about it for a while, I think it’s the cross-culture , freedom, and the change of people’s opinion toward fashion that shape 20th century fashion much more interesting. Most people adapted that fashion is a kind of self-expression, and others might see it as a form of rebellion. Guess what? 20th century seemed packed with full of both! Drug Revolution, Fashion vs Anti-Fashion, Punk Protesters, they’re all packed in this era. But enough with the prelude, I’m here to talk about the beauty of details and embellishment in 20th century fashion. I’ve wanted to write about it for a while, not only because this is my favourite era, but also I think it’s great to see that modern clothing — even though it’s much simpler than ones in 17th-19th century — it has exquisitely complex work, for example : faultlessly quilted geometric hem of 1960s mini-dress by Pierre Cardin, perfectly clean garment finishes, or even the perfect seaming technique of Charles James’ wedding dress.</p>
