How Game Design Might Help Reimagine Rehabilitation Therapy: a Product Designer Perspective
<h1>Introduction</h1>
<p>Have you ever found yourself thinking as a designer, <em>“Oh, there’s no way I’m getting involved in </em><strong><em>that</em></strong><em>; it’s too complex for me,”</em> or perhaps, <em>“Why would I, with no prior experience in such a field, be able to even spark some interest in such a vertical and highly specialised topic?”</em></p>
<p>Yes? Well… yeah, that’s precisely <strong>how I felt</strong> at the very outset of this project when I was thinking what to do for my <strong>Industrial Product Design Bachelor’s Thesis</strong>. And if I wasn’t already naive enough to take on such a challenge, I’ve now chosen to share my experience with anyone willing to read about it.</p>
<p>The project received support by one of Italy’s largest <strong>hospitals</strong> while collaborating with one of my university’s <strong>healthcare design lab</strong> during my final year as a Bachelor’s student. The objective was to <strong>conceptualise tools and experiences for a new upcoming hospitalisation ward</strong>. My responsibility was to delve into research, pinpoint a specific issue to tackle, and design a solution for it.</p>
