How Game Design Might Help Reimagine Rehabilitation Therapy: a Product Designer Perspective

<h1>Introduction</h1> <p>Have you ever found yourself thinking as a designer,&nbsp;<em>&ldquo;Oh, there&rsquo;s no way I&rsquo;m getting involved in&nbsp;</em><strong><em>that</em></strong><em>; it&rsquo;s too complex for me,&rdquo;</em>&nbsp;or perhaps,&nbsp;<em>&ldquo;Why would I, with no prior experience in such a field, be able to even spark some interest in such a vertical and highly specialised topic?&rdquo;</em></p> <p>Yes? Well&hellip; yeah, that&rsquo;s precisely&nbsp;<strong>how I felt</strong>&nbsp;at the very outset of this project when I was thinking what to do for my&nbsp;<strong>Industrial Product Design Bachelor&rsquo;s Thesis</strong>. And if I wasn&rsquo;t already naive enough to take on such a challenge, I&rsquo;ve now chosen to share my experience with anyone willing to read about it.</p> <p>The project received support by one of Italy&rsquo;s largest&nbsp;<strong>hospitals</strong>&nbsp;while collaborating with one of my university&rsquo;s&nbsp;<strong>healthcare design lab</strong>&nbsp;during my final year as a Bachelor&rsquo;s student. The objective was to&nbsp;<strong>conceptualise tools and experiences for a new upcoming hospitalisation ward</strong>.
