Building a Decision Maker Org Chart

LinkedIn can be super helpful in getting the names and titles of individuals in your deal, however optically building out the organizational chart from a decision making capability is critical to building not only a deal but also to having a clear picture of roadblocks that influencers can have on your deal. This type of org chart is super helpful when doing revues with management and your team. If you want your management structure to see that you are completely on top of your deal, walk them through your DMOC (decision making org chart and watch them smile.

Here is how you build it.

1) Put everyone, yes everyone that may touch your deal down onto your org chart sheet. This includes Decision Makers (those deciding on your product), Influencers (those who have input into which product or service is purchased), Outliers (those who are not in the project, but could potentially weigh in), your companies team and who they map to on the chart, and finally and often forgotten your ecosystem of partners involved in the deal. The Ecosystem of partners includes resellers and other vendors (not in competition with you) that sell into the account.
