<p>Much like IRL (in real life), smart wearables have grown in popularity due to their increased functionality as a piece of functional fashion. This idea of fashionable functionality has transferred to the digital realm, notably in the form of Decentraland’s (DCL) smart wearables. On top of that, DCL has launched a pretty big upgrade to their Emotes, dubbing it Emotes 2.0, further enhancing how avatar’s express themselves on the platform.</p>
<p><strong>What are Decentraland’s smart wearables?</strong></p>
<p>In the context of DCL, a smart wearable is a digital item which activates an experience once your avatar wears it. It’s unique from traditional wearables in that it gives your avatar special capabilities, such as the ability to fly if you wear a jetpack. Not only that, smart wearables are also able to transform an entire scene by placing another layer on top of it or teleporting objects from one scene to another. For instance, you could pick up a snowball in Genesis Plaza and throw it at another avatar (who happens to be playing the same game as you) in another scene.</p>
