Debunking Islam

The Quran is the central religious text of Islam. It is believed by Muslims to be a revelation from God to the Prophet Muhammad. However, Muhamad did not write the Quran. The Quran was revealed to him by the angel Gabriel and recited by him to his followers. While Muhammad would recite what was revealed to him, his followers would supposedly memorize and write out these ‘verses’. A collection of these written copies of verses was kept by the early Muslim Community. Muhammad supposedly died around 632 A.D. and the written copies of what he verbally shared to his community were complied twelve years later in around 644 A.D. by Uthman the 3rd Caliph. Uthman ordered multiple copies of the Quran be made and distributed throughout the Islamic world. At this point at the text was standardized to ensure there was no variation in the text.
