The Planet’s Plea Has Not Fallen on Deaf Ears

<p>There are people walking the earth who are deeply connected to it. I&rsquo;m one of them. Considering that the earth was created to hold us, I have deep reverence for her.</p> <p>I use the pronoun her because the earth, as named according to the Akan tradition of &ldquo;day-naming,&rdquo; is known as&nbsp;<a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/Asase-Yaa" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Asase Yaa</a>&nbsp;in my native language. &lsquo;Asase&rsquo; means Earth, and &lsquo;Yaa&rsquo; means a female born on Thursday.</p> <p>According to the Akans of Ghana, the Earth was created on Thursday by Nyame (The Creator.)
