The Igbo in Me: My Cultural Identity.

The Igbos happen to be the third biggest ethnic group in Nigeria. Being a major culture, we boast of diverse sub-tribal groups yet identifying as one. Situated in the Eastern part of Nigeria are the 5 major Igbo states; Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo. You may find Igbo speaking communities in states that do not completely identify as Igbo like Delta and Rivers State, with traces of Igbo culture in other non-Igbo states. We are that diverse.

The Igbo culture is rich in traditional customs, rites, values and wisdom that remains unadulterated despite the western colonization and civilization. Our history, language, art, food, attire, family and community oriented values, respect for hierarchy, celebrations and festivals paints our beautiful heritage.
