<p>In our changing climate weather disasters are more likely to be intense, Fires, Tornadoes and hurricanes are more destructive and dangerous. All disasters may involve injuries, wether it’s a regional event, or a motor vehicle accident. When an injury occurs, one thing that may determine wether the injured person recovers, is the availability of blood.</p>
<p>Blood consists of red disks, called cells, in a clear liquid called plasma. The average adult human body contains about 9 to 12 pints of it, but it depends on the person’s size. It is pumped through the body in a closed loop system through tubes called veins and arteries. As it passes through the lungs, the red cells pick up a load of oxygen.</p>
