A Character Back Story for Claudia Draper in ‘Nuts’ By Tom Topor:

Power is an attractive thing isn’t it? Without it, there’s no freedom. As far back as I can remember people have been stripping me of mine. It all started when papa left and we were powerless to stop him. I remember that day so vividly even though I was young… you never forget moments like that, the ones that change you forever. It was a very cold winter Sunday, the snow was falling heavily outside and there was a distinct smell of cologne mixed with cinnamon from mama’s baking mixed in the air. I was in my room when I heard the yelling, didn’t think much of it at first; it was a familiar sound in the Draper household. Then I heard a smash, that’s when I had to go check what was wrong. There was shattered glass all over the floor, one of them had smashed granny’s antique vase- that’s when I knew, this time it was different. Papa kept saying ‘I love her’ over and over again.
