Why Lisbon Is the Worst City in Portugal

Lisbon has become an impossible city. It is not new, though; I think it always has been.

It is a city without nature, where satellite cities were built in desert wastelands, and four trees are enough for ten thousand people in some square suddenly built to make people feel less apprehensive.

Entire neighborhoods were built on this principle.

Buildings one behind the other, looking like pieces of dominoes, housing thousands of souls in their mini apartments where not even a balcony exists.

Around them, in what was eventually called a city, you soon realize that there is no economic life. Those who live there only use them as a place to sleep, spending their lives working in Lisbon and spending the rest between three to four hours of hellish traffic commuting.
