UNDER THE EVANGELICAL TALIBAN: WE CHARGE FEMICIDE
<p>In the early aughts, Evangelical pastors and their Promise Keeper foot soldiers theatrically pretended to hate global terrorist networks, such as the Taliban. Appropriating the atrocities of 9/11 coupled with melodramatic pretenses rivaling Norma Desmond, these patriarchal leaders resurrected the language of Christendom and the Crusades.</p>
<p>Overnight, a wellspring of mediocre Baby Boomer men that never fought in a war, or bothered serving in the military were delighted to rebrand themselves as performative knights in shining armor. They declared a global Evangelical Holy War on Muslims, and it was relentlessly propagated from the pulpit to the pew. In Sunday services and on various forms of Christian news media, medieval leaders collectively declared that the War on Terror was necessary to “save” Muslim women, girls, and all oppressed people in the name of Jesus.</p>
