La Recoleta Cemetery.
<p>La Recoleta Cemetery is a cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina, located in the Recoleta district. It is home to the graves of notable figures such as Eva Perón, Argentina’s presidents, Nobel Laureates, the creator of the Argentine Navy, and military commanders such as Julio Argentino Roca. It was named one of the top ten most beautiful cemetery in the world by CNN in 2013.At the beginning of the 18th century, a group of isolated Franciscan monks landed in this location, which was then on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. The cemetery is centered on the Recollect Monastery and Our Lady of the Pillar, a 1732 church. In 1822, the order was disbanded, and the monastery garden was turned into the city’s first public cemetery. It was dedicated on the same day as the Cementerio del Norte, on November 17th of the same year.The complex, which spans 5.5 hectares, comprises 4691 vaults, all of which are above ground. </p>
